Pete got more sure of himself on the trialsbike. On the
very last training session of the season in October he finally pushed himself
up the hill that has been the big goal for this year. Hard to explain how
steep the hill is and how much fun it is to achieve that goal.... but both
are BIG.
Here is a picture from earlier this fall on our 'transport
section' that ties our most used trials sections together.
Visitors from Germany and the Folk from Stavanger
Our good neighbors from across the meadow came calling,
and the table in the allroom was our first stop. It was also our second,
third, fourth.... In fact, we didn't get much farther than the table the
whole first day. Understandable, considering the circumstances: six
people, three languages and a gas-grill full of chicken and german sausages!
It is a wonder we got up at all.
Sailing in German
The next day, when we were moving again, our new German
friends bravely decided to take to the sea. There, the new skipper talked
of her father after feeling the surge of power from the sails. She had
been out in sailboats before, but not like this one. Close to the water,
with the tiller in her own hands for the first time, she suddenly understood
what her father had tried to share with her when she was very young. It
was nice to share her connection to the past.
I obviously had a good time too. But I always do when
I am sailing.
Messing
about in boats
Sometimes my gang can be found in the boat, too. Towards
the end of summer vacation, Lina and Pete insisted on going for a sail
before the hard times began again. I was not slow in complying. This shot
is from that trip. You can read more about it here.
